Questions and Answers

New to Yoga? You’ll find answers to a selection of frequently asked questions below.
What should I wear?

You’ll want to be comfortable, in clothes that you can stretch and move in, without feeling restricted. Workout clothes, gym wear or specialist yoga clothes are the best options.
Does it matter that I’m not fit or flexible?

No! It doesn’t matter what your level of fitness is – our classes are suitable for everyone. In reality, very few people are naturally flexible, but this will improve alongside your general fitness by attending the classes.
Do I need a mat?

We supply mats for every class, though you are more than welcome to bring your own. You may also want to bring a yoga towel with you, though this is entirely optional.
Do I need to have done Yoga before?

No, everyone is welcome to attend our classes – from complete novices to experienced Yogis!
How often should I practice Yoga?

We recommend practicing Yoga 2-3 times a week. In addition to classes and one to one sessions, you can practice at home.

Take 1-2 poses from a class and practice them during the week – or check out our videos for further guidance and inspiration.
Will there be men in the classes?

Everyone is welcome– and men do attend several of our weekly classes.
I have health conditions – is there anything that will prevent me practicing Yoga?

Yoga is suitable for the vast majority of people, including those suffering from a range of health conditions. Poses can be adapted to meet specific needs, to ensure that everyone attending the classes reaps the benefits.

Before attending any class, Ava will get in touch with you to discuss any health issues (we also have a health questionnaire), and to tailor elements of the class for you accordingly.
Should I eat and drink before or after a Yoga class?

Yoga involves bending and twisting, so it’s best not to be too full before class for your own comfort. It’s best to eat a light meal around 2 hours before class, and to avoid heavy meals for 4 hours before practice. Staying hydrated is important, and we recommend drinking plenty of water before and after every class.
